  • Anthropic Now Runs Claude Inside Google Cloud, and the Data Processor Is the Whole Point

Anthropic made Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed) generally available on October 22, putting the full Claude Platform inside Google Cloud. Teams authenticate with the Google Cloud IAM credentials they already manage, pay through one Google Cloud invoice, and draw usage against existing cloud commitments. US and Global endpoints are live, and the model shelf is current: Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, and Haiku 5.5, with new models promised on this route the day they launch.

The catch is in the name. Claude was already sold on Google Cloud through a Google managed offering, and that option is not going away. The difference is who operates the stack and acts as data processor. Choose Anthropic managed and Anthropic runs the service under its own commercial terms, with every first-party feature and beta on day zero: Claude Managed Agents in beta, code execution, computer use, agent skills, the MCP connector, the Files API, web search and fetch, prompt caching, and batch processing. Choose Google managed and Google stays the data processor under your existing cloud agreement, with VPC Service Controls, customer-managed encryption keys, data residency in the US, EU, and APAC, and integrations like Model Armor and BigQuery, but new Claude features arrive only after Google integrates them. Google says both options carry the same models and pricing.

The Anthropic managed route also makes Fast Mode on Claude Opus 5.5 generally available, prioritizing speed at up to 2.5 times faster output token generation for 8 dollars per million input tokens and 40 dollars per million output tokens, aimed at live debugging and interactive agents. Customers also get the Claude Console for configuring agents and monitoring usage, cost, and access. One warning from Anthropic deserves bold type: if you hold an existing discount, talk to your account executive before switching, because discounts cannot be applied retroactively to usage on the new route.

Coming one day after OpenAI's models landed in the same Google Cloud catalogue, this launch says something plain about where the frontier market is heading. The models are available everywhere, on the same invoice, at the same list price. What is left to compete on is the wrapper: who processes your data, whose terms govern it, how long you wait for new features, and how much governance you inherit from the platform underneath. For anyone building on Claude inside a Google Cloud estate, the Anthropic managed option removes the old excuse for feature lag, but it converts a dropdown menu into a compliance decision. Pick the processor deliberately, because that choice, not the model name, is what your security review will be about.

The same question showed up in a smaller package on October 22. Nirva, a startup founded in 2025 by former Meta Reality Labs employees Wei Lyu and Jason Chen with jewelry founder Hanying Hu, announced a 25 million dollar pre-Series A round, bringing its total raised to 33 million dollars, for a pendant that listens only to its wearer. The eight-gram device, worn as a pendant or bracelet with a battery rated for up to three days, builds a voice model from onboarding samples and filters out everyone else; by default it keeps no audio or transcripts after processing, instead reading tone, pitch, volume, and speed for emotion and communication insights in its app. Orders open in November at 249 dollars, with shipments to early users aimed for the end of the year. Whether the data processor is a cloud vendor or a microphone on your chest, the product is now the data policy, and buyers are learning to read it first.

Big Banks Tell Outside AI Agents: You Can Look at the Money, but You Cannot Move It

A J.P. Morgan office building with the bank name in large letters above its glass facade.

In the space of one week, four of the biggest names in American banking drew the same line for AI agents. JPMorganChase, Citigroup, Bank of America and Charles Schwab each said outside agents cannot move customer money, PYMNTS reported on Monday, October 19. A customer who hands a login to an agent now gets turned away at all four, even as those same customers increasingly treat AI as their main tool for managing money. The banks are not rejecting agents outright. They are rejecting agents they cannot control, with credentials they did not issue.

One Hacker, a Few Thousand Dollars, and AI Agents Broke Into More Than 100 Sites

Over the past couple of weeks, a cybersecurity researcher watched a single Chinese-speaking hacker break into websites belonging to more than 100 companies, including farm equipment maker Deere, home appliance company SharkNinja and engine manufacturer Cummins. The hacker did almost none of the work personally. According to Snorre Fagerland, principal threat researcher at NorForge, in a report provided to Reuters ahead of publication on Monday, October 19, the intrusions were outsourced almost entirely to AI agents that spent hours autonomously probing and breaking into targeted sites.

World Wants Your Agent to Carry ID: AgentKit Brings Proof of Human to Banking

World, the identity project co-founded by Sam Altman, made its first industry-specific push on Sunday, October 18, unveiling World ID for banking and finance on stage at Money20/20 in Las Vegas. Co-founder Alex Blania presented a suite built to answer a question banks now face daily: is this transaction being made by a real customer, a deepfake, or an AI agent acting for someone? The bundle combines the World ID app, World ID for Zoom, and World ID for Agents, built on the AgentKit toolkit, now in beta.
